Pension Schwalbenhof Gebr. Runtze Gbr

I only review the restaurant here. Since the Schwalbenhof was recommended to me by many friends, I took this as an opportunity to reserve a table for two people for my birthday on December 22nd, 2023. The reservation was confirmed to me by email with the note “birthday”. We were greeted warmly and taken to the reserved table. The table was set for four people and was in no way decorated for a birthday. The two unnecessary place settings were not removed after we were seated. I see this as inattention, and the winemaker's white gloves are of no use. We chose the pumpkin soup as a starter and the original Wiener Schnitzel for the main course. The drinks were served relatively quickly. After a short time we were informed that the Wiener Schnitzel was no longer available. Alternatively I chose the steak ou four. The waiting time for the food was borderline but still acceptable. The pumpkin soup was good, but I couldn't understand what the smoked fish lost in the soup. Individually, the fish was still good. But the steak ou four was a complete disaster. Dear Schwalbenhof, something like what you served me must not go to the guest in any way!!! The meat was in the oven for far too long so the cheese already had black spots. The steak underneath the seasoning was extremely dry. The fried potatoes varied in thickness, some slices were hard and others were good. Even if the chef doesn't notice it, the waitress has to notice it at the latest. If you advertise that you only use regional products and suppliers on the menu, you also have to process the food properly. Since I was in company, my decency restrained me from immediate criticism. I go to the restaurant to experience something special and I also like to spend money on it. This restaurant failed for me personally and I would rate it as average.

In rural charm and a hospitable atmosphere, you can enjoy modern, excellent cuisine that places emphasis on quality, variety and regionality. A very friendly and courteous service makes you feel welcome and perfectly rounds off the first-class taste experience. Highly recommended and also worth the time you have to reserve in advance!
